Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the final months of the year, I’ve been reflecting on the progress we have made and what it means to keep moving forward, especially when the path changes.
As we mourn the passing of Gloria Steinem, we are reminded that movements endure because each generation carries the work forward. Many of the institutions represented across our network have roots in the feminist movements that Gloria helped build alongside countless organizers, activists, writers, and leaders. Women’s funds are among the living expressions of that legacy: institutions committed to moving resources, challenging power, and expanding what is possible for women and girls.
That work continues across our network every day.
This year, we brought more than 120 colleagues from around the world together for What the Numbers Don’t Say, an in-person session advancing DataWoven; strengthened relationships among members and funders, from Women Deliver in Melbourne to gatherings closer to home; and we are continuing to prepare for the WFN Summit.
We also advanced through a rigorous review process for the WIN Challenge with two ideas: the DataWoven Interpretation Commons and WorkWoven. Although neither was selected for a final award, this is not where the work ends. The process sharpened our thinking, expanded the visibility of these ideas, and reinforced the need we hear across our network for stronger data, shared interpretation, and more equitable workplaces.
Transformative ideas cannot depend on a single competition. These ideas are ready, and now they need partners who believe in their potential.
As we close the year, we are seeking support to move the DataWoven Interpretation Commons and WorkWoven forward while continuing to provide the connections, research, and infrastructure our members rely on.
