Rachel Smith is a philanthropy and partnerships leader working at the intersection of collaborative funding, systems change, and social justice. As Director of Partnerships at the Freedom Fund, she helps mobilise philanthropic and public resources to combat modern slavery globally, working with foundations, philanthropists, governments, and civil society organisations to build collective approaches to complex social challenges.

Prior to joining the Freedom Fund, Rachel held senior leadership roles in the UK social impact sector, particularly in the fields of exploitation, human rights, and youth justice. Across her career, she has worked at the intersection of philanthropy, public policy, and civil society, helping organisations secure resources, build influence, and strengthen the ecosystems needed to sustain change.

Rachel serves on the boards of Settle, a UK charity supporting young people leaving the care system to build independent lives, and Public Law Project, which works to strengthen access to justice and accountability in public decision-making. She is a regular contributor to conversations on collaborative philanthropy, movement funding, and partnership-led approaches to social change.
