Mwanamke Fund is a feminist integrative fund (created by, for, and led by women) that innovatively addresses the specific needs of vulnerable women by establishing a community-based and integrated resource mobilization mechanism to strengthen the financial and technical capacities of small women’s organizations and local women’s movements in the African Great Lakes region (Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi). This aims to address issues such as violations of women’s rights, sexual and gender-based violence, poverty, food and economic insecurity, climate change, environmental and biodiversity destruction, limited access to healthcare and sexual and reproductive rights, illiteracy, and the exclusion and underrepresentation of women in decision-making bodies and promotes peace in the Great Lakes region, which has been devastated by numerous community and armed conflicts over the past 30 years.
