Amy Merrill
President & Co-founder, Eyes Open
Amy Merrill is a creative and activist working at the intersection of art, technology and social change. In 2015, she co-founded Plan C (plancpills.org) under a shared vision of transforming access to abortion pills by mail in the US. Today the public health initiative has grown into a trusted national resource, a catalyst for new methods of access and support, and a household name for safe self-managed abortion.
Amy has been named one of FastCompany’s Most Creative People in Business and as a Rock+Health Systems Disruptor. Amy has a background in nonprofit management and holds 20+ years navigating complex social issues, from human trafficking and gender equity to artist’s rights and free speech. She is cofounder/president of studio Eyes Open Design (eyesopendesign.com), where she develops websites and creative communications for purpose-driven clients. She was an inaugural member of the Buckminster Fuller Institute’s Design Science Studio, serves as an advisor to emergency contraception brand Julie (juliecare.co).
Amy is also a musician in a futurist space folk band, and an amateur homesteader in CA.
