Slice Out Hunger

Erin Ruszaj is the Director of Operations for Slice Out Hunger, a nonprofit that fights food insecurity through the American pizza industry. At Slice Out Hunger, she has her hands in all sorts of different (pizza) pies, but she loves the variety and wouldn’t have it any other way. Her decades of experience in roles that require strategic planning, problem solving, strong project management, and building connections have helped her expand Slice Out Hunger’s reach and ability to do #Pizza4Good exponentially.

She began working with Slice Out Hunger as a volunteer in the spring of 2020 and shortly thereafter was invited to come on as their Director of Operations to help with their transition towards managing campaigns on a national scale. She oversees all the day-to-day needs for operating a small, but mighty nonprofit. This includes organizing fundraising events in cities across the country, recruiting and mobilizing volunteers for both in-person events and virtual campaigns, coordinating all marketing efforts, project managing their programs, mobilizing the pizza community to provide aid during natural disasters, and building relationships with everyone in the American pizza industry including pizzeria owners, vendors in pizza-related organizations, and the general pizza-loving public.

In addition to her work with Slice Out Hunger, Erin has also spent time working at tech startups in sales management and operations roles and with other nonprofit organizations such as the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo and Candid. She is originally from Buffalo, NY and now resides in New York City. She is passionate about furthering women’s equity in all facets of life and sees her work in food insecurity as a direct application of this passion since women and LGBTQIA2S+ individuals are more likely to experience food insecurity throughout their lifetimes.
