Letter to the NYT Editor from WFN President and CEO

In a recent letter to the editor to the New York Times, WFN President and CEO Elizabeth Barajas-Román responds to a NYT article asking, “Which of These 4 Family Policies Deserves Top Priority?”

The truth is, we need all of these policies – paid family leave, affordable child care, universal pre-K, and child tax credits. Investing in all four covers intersecting areas of need that impact the entire lifespan of women and girls: education access, health, and economic mobility.

Tables have four legs for a reason; picking just one policy will lead to a social system that’s just as wobbly.

The writer is the President & CEO of the Women’s Funding Network, the world’s largest philanthropic alliance for gender equity.
