As the Communications Director, Ellen is responsible for the leadership, direction, and administration of WFN’s communications strategies and programs. She directs these efforts with staff, consultants, and coalition partners to provide strategies, research, and resources that support the critical agency and influence of women’s foundations and gender justice funders in the movement for equality, justice, and power for all.
Before joining the Women’s Funding Network, Ellen was the Deputy Communications Director for RepresentUs, the nation’s largest nonpartisan anti-corruption organization, where she worked to design and execute strategic communications for numerous state and national campaigns. She managed internal staff communications as well as external PR outreach efforts and collaborated with digital and organizing teams on multi-channel communications strategies for traditional and social media. Previously, as the Program Officer for the Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts (WFWN), Ellen also directed the Leadership Institute for Political and Public Impact (LIPPI), a women’s leadership course designed to encourage women to run for office.
Born and raised in Springfield, MA, Ellen graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a BA in Political Science, a Five College Honors International Relations Certificate. In 2020, she received her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration on leadership management and was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta honors society.
From research and education, to strategic-led initiatives and events, to advocacy and unifying a collective voice, Ellen is thrilled to be serving the WFN mission to provide gender justice leaders and advocates with a variety of tools to help them succeed.
