The African-American Women’s Fund (AAWF) is a progressive, national, philanthropic initiative launched to support organizations and individuals working for the education and empowerment of women of the African Diaspora. Organized as a Field of Interest Fund, AAWF is a forward-thinking approach for mobilizing the untapped resources of the Black community to support Black women’s initiatives.

The Fund operates under the auspices of The Twenty-First Century Foundation and uses the networks of its leadership to expand the circle of giving that already exists. Resources generated by the Fund are used to make grants in four program areas: community empowerment; education; economic justice/development; and health and environment.

Mission:

The mission of the Twenty-First Century Foundation is to facilitate strategic giving for black community change. Specifically, 21CF works with donors to invest in institutions and leaders that solve problems within black communities nationally.
