Semillas: Sociedad Mexicana Pro Derechos De La Mujer, A.C.

Semillas is the only  women's fund in Mexico.  It is a nonprofit organization that finances organized women's projects all over the country, and defines itself as social investment in women.  The work that develops these organizations centers around the promotion and defense of the human rights of the marginalized, especially women.  Since its start in 1990, Semillas has financed 237 projects that have benefited more than 650.000 Mexicans.

As a young Rarámuri woman, Mirabel was motivated to enter Kari Igomari Niwara, an indigenous women's organization in the state of Chihuahua. Over the last 15 years this organization has carried out projects to develop and educate its members and their families about the importance of community in upholding their political, cultural and economic independence.
