Support the Women of the DRC

More than 5 million people have died in the Congo since war broke out in 1996. Although the war is technically over, women and girls still face rape and sexual violence on a daily basis.

TAKE ACTION to end violence against women and girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo!

SEND A LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA NOW!

Send a letter to President Obama encouraging him to act to protect the women of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, encourage the international community to investigate leaders who use sexual violence, and work with U.S. lawmakers to pass the International Violence Against Women Act.

The second war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo officially ended in 2003, but women and girls remain targets of violence. It is estimated that over 1,000 people die each day in the DRC due to violence. Poverty and the fear of sexual violence have become a part of life for the women of the DRC. The threat of and the use of rape and sexual violence have become weapons used by all sides of the conflict and it is reported that hundreds of thousands of women have been systematically raped and sexually attacked since 1998.
